Put a page on your domain
Put a free "Coming soon" page on a domain you registered at YWT in one click, with no hosting plan and no DNS setup.
Put a page on your domain
Right after you register a domain at YWT, you can put a simple "Coming soon" page on it in one click. Visitors to example.ch then see your headline and message instead of an error.
This is free for domains registered at YWT. You do not need a hosting plan.
Put the page online
Open "Put a page on example.ch"
After you pay for a domain, the payment confirmation page shows a card Put a page on example.ch. Click it to open a small form. You will find the same card later on the domain's own page (Account > Domains, then click the domain) as long as the domain has no website.
Fill in three fields
| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| Headline | The large text at the top. Starts as your domain name. |
| Message | A line below the headline. Starts as "We are building something special." |
| Contact email | Optional. Shown on the page so visitors can reach you. |
Click "Put it online"
YWT creates a site for the domain, publishes the page, and connects both example.ch and www.example.ch. YWT sets the DNS records for you, so there is nothing to configure. YWT then opens the site's Overview.
The page is live within about a minute.
YWT sets the DNS records in its own DNS. This works when the domain uses YWT nameservers, which is the default for a new registration. If you moved the domain's DNS to another provider, see Custom domains for the records to add there.
Change the page
Open the site from Website hosting and go to its Edit tab. You see the same three fields. Change them and save; saving publishes a new version of the page right away.
What a coming-soon page can and cannot do
A coming-soon page is a fixed page. It is marked with a Coming soon page badge in your list of websites.
- It does not count against your plan's site limit or custom-domain limit, so the Free plan's one site stays available.
- You can only change it through the three fields on the Edit tab.
- You cannot upload files to it or edit its code.
- You cannot add other domains to it.
- Redirects are not available for it.
Replace it with a real website
When you are ready for a real website on the domain, you need a hosting plan. The site's Overview shows Replace with a real page, which takes you to the plans. See Static hosting plans and billing.
Next steps
- Register a domain if you do not have one yet.
- Host your first website to build a full site.
- Compare plan limits.
