Build your website with your AI assistant

Let ChatGPT or Claude interview you and build a one-page website, then upload the file it gives you to YWT. No code, nothing to install.

Build your website with your AI assistant

If you already pay for ChatGPT or Claude, you can let it build your website. You paste one line into the chat, answer a few questions, and the assistant writes a complete one-page website as a single file. You then upload that file to YWT, look at it, and publish it when you are ready.

You do not write code, and you do not install or connect anything. The assistant does the writing; YWT hosts the result.

Who this is for

  • You have a ChatGPT or Claude subscription (any paid plan works; Claude's free plan works too, as long as it can open web pages).
  • You want a one-page website: a business, a person, an event, a club, a project.
  • You would rather describe your website in a chat than fill in a form or edit a template.

If you prefer a guided form inside YWT, use Create a page without code instead. If you want to work with code, see Create a site.

What you need

  • A ChatGPT or Claude account on a plan that can open web pages. In ChatGPT this is called browsing or search; in Claude, web search. Both are on by default on paid plans.
  • A YWT account. Registering is free, and you can do it after the chat.
  • Your facts: the name, what you offer, opening hours, address, phone, email. The assistant asks for them; it does not make them up.

Start the chat

Open ChatGPT or Claude, start a new chat, and paste this line:

Read https://docs.ywt.ch/ai and help me build my website

Write in whatever language you like. The assistant answers in your language, and the website can be in German, French, Italian or English, or in several.

The page the assistant reads, docs.ywt.ch/ai, holds the starter prompt: the instructions that tell it how to interview you, how to build the file, and how to hand it over to YWT. You can read it yourself; there is nothing hidden in it.

What happens in the chat

The interview

The assistant asks a few questions at a time: what the site is for, its name, three to six facts worth showing, which language the page needs, the tone and colours you like, and whether you have photos. Answer as plainly as you would to a person.

The page

The assistant then writes one file, index.html. It contains the whole page: text, layout and colours. It works on phones and computers, loads nothing from other websites, has no cookies or trackers, and has a contact section with your phone and email as links. For a business it adds a legal notice (Impressum) with your business name, address and contact, as Swiss law requires.

Changes

The assistant describes the page and asks what to change. Ask for anything: shorter text, another colour, a different order. It returns the complete file each time.

The hand-over

When you are happy, the assistant tells you how to save the file and where to upload it. The steps are the ones below.

Upload the file to YWT

Save the file on your computer as index.html

In Claude, the page appears beside the chat as an artifact. Use its download button and save the file as index.html.

In ChatGPT, download the file ChatGPT attached to its message. If the message only shows the code, ask ChatGPT to provide it as a file for download.

Sign in or register for free at ywt.ch

Go to ywt.ch and sign in, or register if you have no account yet.

Open Website hosting and click Create New Website

Choose a name and a subdomain. The subdomain becomes the site's address: name.ywt.app. See Create a site for details.

On the site's Edit tab choose "Build it with your AI assistant"

It opens the upload dialog. Drop the index.html file in and click Upload. YWT saves it as your home page. (The same dialog is also under Advanced as Upload your website, and it accepts a .zip too.)

Click Preview

Preview opens your draft in a new tab. Share draft gives you a link to show the page to other people before it is online. Both are free. See Previews.

Publish

To put the site on the internet you need the Starter plan. After choosing it, click Publish on the Edit tab. Afterwards you can connect your own domain on the site's Domains tab.

Free draft, paid publishing

Building the page in the chat, uploading it, previewing it and sharing a draft link cost nothing at YWT. Putting the page on the internet, at name.ywt.app or at your own domain, needs the Starter plan. See Static hosting plans and billing.

Questions

My photos are not on the page

The assistant cannot put your photos into the file. It leaves a clearly marked placeholder where each photo goes. After uploading, open the site's Edit tab, upload the photo with the Upload button in the file tree, and ask your assistant to replace the placeholder with the photo's file name (see the next question). See Code editor.

I want to change the page later

Go back to the same assistant (or any other) and paste the same one line. Then download your current page from YWT: on the site's Edit tab click Download files, which gives you a zip with index.html inside. Attach that index.html to the chat, or paste its contents, and say what to change. The assistant returns the complete updated file. Upload it on the Edit tab the same way as before; it replaces the old one. Then click Publish.

My assistant did not read the page

Some assistants have web access switched off, or say they cannot open the link. Copy the full prompt from ywt.ch/ai (or the plain-text version at docs.ywt.ch/ai/prompt.txt) and paste it into the chat instead of the one line. The prompt is the same text the assistant would have read.

Can the assistant build more than one page?

The starter prompt asks for one page in one file, because that is what you can upload in one step. If you need more pages later, the site's Edit tab has a code editor where more files can be added. See Code editor.

Is my data safe?

The chat stays between you and your assistant's provider; YWT does not see it. The file you upload is an ordinary web page. YWT's own privacy terms apply to your account and your site; see Legal.
